This last weekend we had planned to head to the eastern shore, but realized that the traffic would likely be heavy since it was near the end of summer. So, we decided to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial. It is a sobering memorial to see and we recommend it.
There are several covered bridges in the nearby area. Daylight was closing out on us, but we were able to visit one covered bridge on the journey, which is shown here. I am always amazed at the construction techniques used “back in the day” which are still able to hold significant weight and have stood the test of time.
We met a fellow photographer and she was on a journey to photograph all the covered bridges in Bedford County that day. Clearly it is on our list to return to this Fall.
